Dunwoody Police News Update

Incident: Robbery Arrest
Date: 12/28/2010
Location: 4570 Ashford Dunwoody Rd., Dunwoody, GA. 30346

The Dunwoody Police Department arrested 41 year old Maurice Patrick Hayes, for a Robbery that occurred outside of the Wells Fargo, located at 4570 Ashford Dunwoody Road. The victim, a 24 year old Dunwoody resident, was approached by Hayes at the Best Buy on Hammond Drive around 1400 hours. Hayes offered to sell the victim a laptop computer, so the two drove over to the Wells Fargo and the victim withdrew money.

Hayes ordered the victim into his van, took an undisclosed amount of cash, and handed over two laptop computers. During the incident, Hayes indicated that he had a firearm in his waistband.

Hayes ordered the victim out of the van, and he drove off. The victim immediately realized the computers were fake, so he called 911.

Hayes has been charged with Robbery (F), and is being held at the DeKalb County Jail. A warrant has also been issued for Carl Johnson, an accomplice that was with Hayes. Carl Johnson has not been located.
